Dana Deborah Branstetter, age 75 of Horse Cave passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, April 28, 2021. Dana was born in Metcalfe County on May 1, 1945 to the late Amel Delk and Mabel Bell Delk.
Being the oldest of eight siblings, Dana spent her childhood and teenage years, surrounded by them in a small house on Milton Ave. in Glasgow, KY. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jana Lyn Branstetter; a sister, Lanie L. Powell; a brother, Terry Delk; one niece, Sherry Delk; one nephew, Justin Clarkson.
Dana married Lanny Branstetter on June 6, 1964 after a courtship that began when Lanny purchased a show ribbon for a walking horse from Dana, while she was working at Jackson’s Florist in Glasgow, KY. Unbeknownst to Dana at the time, Lanny never had owned a horse and was just making an excuse so he could ask her for a date. Soon after, they opened Branstetter Pharmacy in Horse Cave, running the business together for 52 years, of which, Dana worked inside the store, six days a week, for nearly four decades.
She is survived by her husband and two daughters, Lana Kilburn (Tim) and Gina Elliott (Shannon) both of Cave City; three sisters, Linda Smith and Brenda Yates of Glasgow, Anissa Krick (Nathan) of Fredericksburg, VA; two brothers, Chess Delk of Glasgow and Amel Delk Jr. (Susie) of Horse Cave; one sister-in-law, Mildred Delk of Glasgow; many nieces and nephews.
We rejoice in knowing that Dana received Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior and that we will see her again.
Hebrews 12:2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith, who for the joyt set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Services will be private and under the direction of Winn Funeral Home.
