Sterling “Bully” Howell

Sterling "Bully" Howell, of LeGrande, passed away surrounded by loved ones at his home on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, after a brief illness at the age of 82.

Sterling was born to Joe and Agnes Richardson Howell on June 16, 1940. He was a full time farmer his entire life, raising cattle and tobacco. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed crappie fishing and bird hunting. He especially loved spending time with friends, family, and his beloved grandchildren. 

He is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, June Gravens Howell, on May 9, 2013; one brother, Nolan Howell; one sister Forrestine Fancher. 

He is survived by one daughter, Susan (Rodney Meredith); one son, Nathan (Michelle); six grandchildren, McKenzie Forbes, Carter, Elizabeth, Lilah, Adaline and Sterling Howell; many extended family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital. 

Visitation will be held from 3-7 PM on Thursday, November 10, 2022 and from 10 AM - 12 PM on Friday, November 11, 2022. A graveside service will be held at 1 PM on Friday at Cosby Cemetery.
