Nola Jewell Ashley, 83, of the Defries Community, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2016, at her home on the family farm. She was a Barren County native, born to Jack and Violet Bunch Ogden on June 7, 1932. She was a homemaker and caregiver, she loved embroidering, crossword books, flowers, and a supporter of the American Veterans Association.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Violet Bunch Ogden, her husband, Thomas Edward Ashley in July of 1991; an infant son, Daniel Wayne Gumm, one sister, Nellie Ruth Syree, and one brother, Orville Ogden.
She is survived by two sons, Ernest Lee Gumm and William Dale Gumm (Faye), both of Canmer. One daughter, Rita Ann Dartez (Sean), of Louisville, 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, two sisters, Nan Stilts, of Glasgow, Annie Gumm, of Decatur, In., and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at 10 a.m. CST in the chapel of Winn Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Louisville.
Visitation will be Monday, February 15, 2016 from 12 p.m. -8 p.m. CST at the funeral home and continue at 8 a.m. CST on Tuesday until the service time.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Church in Canmer
