Naomi Atwell Greer

Naomi Atwell Greer, 88, of Center, Ky. passed away at 7:55 PM, Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at the Hart County Health Care Center in Horse Cave.

She was a Metcalfe County native, a longtime member of Shady Grove Baptist Church, a housewife and a member of the Ladies Auxillary of the North Metcalfe Volunteer Fire Department.

She was was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Vinson Atwell and Elva Susan Thompson Atwell; her husband, Truman Greer in June, 2007; 3-brothers, Seaymon, Kenyon and Naymon Atwell, and a sister, Nina Harvey.

Survived by

Daughter: Rita Staples and husband, Tommy, Glasgow

Son: Gary Greer and wife, Ginger, Crestwood

Grandchildren: David Handy and wife, Rebecca; Brian Handy and wife, Teresa; Micah Greer and Molly Greer.

Step-Grandchildren: Tommy Staples, Jr. and wife Tina; Mikki Owens and husband, Aaron.

Great-Grandchildren: Camron, Brianna and Madison Handy

Step-Great-Grandchildren: Quentin, Tyler and Kalei Staples; Mason, Jacob and Michael Owens.

Brother: Ozzie Atwell and wife, Bobbi, Cave City.


Winn Funeral Home Chapel, Thursday, 1 PM - 8 PM and after 9 AM, Friday, at the Church.

Funeral Service

Shady Grove Baptist Church, 2 PM, Friday, January 6, 2012 under the direction of Winn Funeral Home.
Burial will be in the Houk Cemetery.

We were so sorry to heard about Naomi. She was such a wonderful person. And so sorry we couldn't come to the funeral home but you are all in ours prayers.

I am very sorry to hear that your mother passed away. I remember the good times that I had with her when we were growing up. She always had a smile for everyone. I am sorry that I will not get to visitation. I will remember you and the family in prayer. May God comfort you in your sorrow.

We were so sorry to hear about Naomi. She a Proverbs 31 woman. She was always smiling and willing help with any project. She loved her God and her family and fortunately some of it spilled over us. Rita and Gary I know this hard and you are very tired. But you know she's waiting for you.
I loved her and I love you and your families. I'm sorry I couldn't make it to the funeral home but you are in my thoughts and prayers.
