Myriam Evelyn Chaney

July 11, 1929 — June 18, 2011

Myriam Evelyn Smith Chaney age 81 of Horse Cave passed away Saturday, June 18, 2011 at the Hart County Health Care Facility in Horse Cave.

She was a Hart County native, bookkeeper for Mid-Way Wholesale for 25 years, past member and president of the Horse Cave Womans Club. She enjoyed her bridge club where with a lot of affection she was known as (Mem). She was a graduate of Horse Cave High School and Bowling Green Business College. After working in Louisville she returned to Horse Cave to marry Joe A. Chaney at her parents home on Vial Street, September 21, 1951. Ms. Chaney was a life long member of the Horse Cave Baptist Church where her great-grandparents and great aunt were charter members. She taught in the children and youth department, was on the kitchen committee and a choir member for decades.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Leslie Smith and Emma Vaughn Smith, her husband Joe A. Chaney in 2004 and 3 brothers, Leslie, William and Tommy Smith.

daughter: Marcia Witherspoon (D.J.) of Horse Cave

2 sons: Joey Chaney (Cynthia) of Horse Cave

Todd Chaney (Debbie) of Horse Cave

6 grandchildren: Luke Witherspoon, Faith Anne Chaney, Greg Witherspoon, Joseph Chaney, Meredith Chaney and Leighton Chaney.

cousins: Virginia Davis of Texas

Evelyn Hane of South Carolina

sister-in-law: Bettye Myers of Louisiana

several nieces and nephews

Visitation

Visiting hours: 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Funeral Service

Funeral service will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2011 in the chapel of Winn Funeral Home with burial in the Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery.
