Marilyn Ray

June 16, 1938 — July 30, 2022

Marilyn Davidson Ray, 84, of Glasgow, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2022 surrounded by her loving family.  She was born June 16, 1938 in Hardyville, KY to the late Carl Davidson and Hallie Edwards Davidson.  She was a faithful member of the SouthGreen Street Church of Christ.

Marilyn married Teddy Ray in 1968 and the couple had four daughters. She served as the Deputy Circuit Court Clerk for Metcalfe County from 1970-1976.  Marilyn was known for her strong work ethic and often worked 2-3 jobs.  These included night clerk at the Glasgow Inn and Catering for Bolton’s Landing.  During this time, she worked full-time for the Glasgow Housing Authority.  Following her retirement from the City of Glasgow, Marilyn was the House Manager for Horse Cave Theatre and Bookkeeper for Crain Auction Company.

Marilyn was also known for her giving heart and loved taking care of others.  She was a devoted mother to her daughters and Mammy to her 3 grandchildren.  Marilyn was always helping with cheerleading and band events for her girls.  When the grandkids were participating in sports and other activities, she was always there.  Mammy went to soccer and baseball games, volleyball and tennis matches, and cheerleading and karate competitions.  She was always the one cheering the loudest! Her grandchildren were her pride & joy.

Marilyn enjoyed traveling with the SGS Young at Heart group, going to the movies and playing card games such as Bridge and Rook.   She loved Christmas and created treasured memories of her special stockings and family game night.  Marilyn knew her Bible and taught her family the most important goal in life is going to Heaven.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Hallie Davidson; her newborn daughters, Terri and Kerri Ray; and two sisters, Mabel Lockett and an infant sister.  She is survived by her daughters, Carla Smith (Ken) of Edmonton and June Parker (Chip) of Glasgow; three grandchildren, Carsen Parker, Chase Watkins (Shelby, fiancée) and Caroline Watkins; her sister, Doris Wallace (Rex) of Horse Cave; brother-in-law, Randall Lockett of Hardyville; a bonus granddaughter, Ashley Bryant (Ashley) of Glasgow; great-grandsons, Chase and Logan Starr and Kenny Smith III; 5 Nephews and 3 Nieces; 9 Great-Nephews and 6 Great-Nieces; 5 Great, Great-Nephews and 5 Great, Great-Nieces; several cousins.
