James Carroll Mears, age 81 of Cave City passed away Sunday, May 2, 2021 at T.J. Samson Community Hospital. He was a native of Louisville and a member of the Horse Cave Church of Christ. He was owner/operator of Hubbards Lane Exxon Station in Louisville and managed several Exxon stations in Nashville.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Chester Mears and Ruby McCallister; one daughter, Connie Jean Mears Maddox; two brothers, Lloyd and Robert Mears; three sisters, Betty Jean Ward, Alberta Pryor and Edna Faye Meade; one granddaughter, Kelly Shea Curran; one step-son, Kevin Bruce Pugh.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Fran Mears of Cave City; one step-daughter, Lori Brewer; one granddaughter, Abbey Ottman (Paul); one step-granddaughter, Jamie Brewer; three step-grandchildren, Michael Blythe, Adam Blythe and Calvin Brewer; two great-grandchildren, Wesley and Lorelei Ottman; two sisters, Delores Turner and Doris Hayes; one son-in-law, Mark Curran (Terri); several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
A memorial service will be held at the Horse Cave Church Of Christ at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 15, 2021. Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until time of service on Saturday, May 15 at the church. Winn Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
