Hugh Richard Edwards

Hugh Richard Edwards, 74, a life-long resident of Hart County, passed from this world after a long battle of sickness for 34 years.  But, because of his faithful service to the Lord throughout his life, he now is receiving his new heavenly home on high.

He was a Christian man, a devoted husband, a father and grandpa, a brother, uncle, and a friend to all.

He accepted Christ and was baptized at a young age.  Throughout his Christian life, he was an active leader at the Fairview Church of Christ.  He was a song leader, Sunday School teacher, and always, even through his sickness, showed how much he truly loved the Lord.

He was a school teacher at Hart Memorial and later at Munfordville High School and he was the Assistant Boys Basketball Coach before the schools consolidated in 1971.

He sold insurance for Northwestern Mutual and later became a Claims Adjuster for State Farm Insurance for 16 years until he became sick.

Most of all, he will forever be known as a family man.  He loved his family and enjoyed his life daily even when he struggled through his illness.  He was always thankful to God for his life no matter how hard at times.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter B. & Lorene Isenberg Edwards, three brothers, Victor, Otis and Rondell, and a sister, Odelia Broady.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Faye Edwards, two daughters, Shelly Edwards Strother and husband, Lance,  and Sheryl Lorene Turley and husband, Todd, both of Horse Cave, four grandchildren, Andrew Bryant Strother, Jordan Cassidy Strother, Jacob Hall Turley and Shelby Lorene Turley, one honorary grandchild, Nick Williams, three sisters, Martha Russell and Jenny Thompson, both of Horse Cave, and Betty Edwards of Louisville, one brother, Bobby Ray Edwards, of Munfordville, and a host of nieces, nephews and at last, a loving dog, Sadie.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 23, 2015 at Winn Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery.  Visitation at Winn Funeral Home from 1-9 p.m. on Thursday and from 8 a.m. to service time on Friday.
