Hilda Ree Russell

Hilda Ree Russell, age 85, of Horse Cave, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2014 at The Medical Center in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

She was a native of Hart County, Kentucky, and a faithful member of the Horse Cave Church of Christ and a former member of Center Church of Christ.  She was the former owner/operator of Russell's Dress Shop and former co-owner of K & H Department Store of Horse Cave.  She enjoyed babysitting her great-grandchildren, Lauren & Andrew, and playing Dominos with special friend, Tom Evans.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Ruth Smith Brooks, and her husband, Truman Russell, in 1988.

She is survived by two sons, Bobby Russell and his wife, Debbie, of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, and Ken Russell and his wife, Carolyn, of Horse Cave, Kentucky.  Four grandchildren, Michael Russell and wife, Kelli, of Louisville; Ashley Neville and her husband, Les, of Cave City; Anthony Russell and wife, Melanie, of Lexington; and Jennifer Russell and fiance, Chad Von Gruenigen, Frankfort.  Six great-grandchildren, Alex, Anna, Maddie and Nathan Russell and Lauren and Andrew Neville.  Several half brothers and sisters including, Robert and Bill Brooks of Horse Cave.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 1, 2014, at Winn Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery.  Visitation at Winn Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 30, 2014, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 1, 2014.

 Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of contributions to Horse Cave Church of Christ and/or Potter Children's Home in Bowling Green.

Kenny and Carolyn,  Bill and I are so sorry for your loss.  Hilda, was a special person.  Horse Cave has lost one of its greatest treasures.  Please know we are thinking of you and praying for all.  We are so sorry we did not make to the visitation we only learned of Hilda passing today which is 10/12/14.

Ashley & family,

I am so sorry for the loss of your grandmother.  Just hold on to the good times you have shared with her.  Be thankful you had that special relationship with her that you can always keep very dear in your heart.  May God Bless you through this difficult time!  You and your family with be in my thoughts and prayers!

Kenny & Bobby and Families:  I'm so sorry to hear about Hilda.  She was such a sweet lady .  I certainly remember shopping at her store.  I know she will be missed greatly by her loving family & friends and also by the Horse Cave community.  My thoughts are with you.
