Donnie Gale Edwards, age 72, of Horse Cave, passed away Friday, December 4, 2015 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. He was a Hart County native , a member of the Horse Cave Church of Christ, former co-owner of the Horse Cave KOA, former owner of the Ole Kentucky Country Store , a former heavy equipment operator, truck driver, and general contractor. He was a collector of antiques and Civil War artifacts, an avid U of L fan and was "crazy" about his grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Violet Dilley Edwards, and a brother, Doug Edwards.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 52 years, Helen, of Horse Cave; three children, Jeff Edwards and wife, Shellie, of Peachtree City, Ga.; Kathy Burchett and husband, Chris, of Scottsville; and Katie Banks and husband, Rico, of Bowling Green; eight grandchildren, Elizabeth, Camille, Payton, Brackston, Stanton, Jaxson, Braylon and Kaydon; sister, Janice Bybee and husband, Billy, of Horse Cave; brothers and sisters - in - law, Patsy Sturgeon and husband, Bobby, of Cave City; Sammy Doyle and wife, Rita, of Horse Cave; Debbie Edwards Hartman, of White House, Tn.; step-mother, Lois Huff Edwards, of Horse Cave; two step-brothers, Steve Huff and wife, Shirley, and Scott Huff, all of Horse Cave; several aunts, an uncle, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews and a host of friends.
A tribute of the life of Donnie Gale will be conducted at 6pm, Tuesday evening, December 8, 2015 at the Horse Cave Church of Christ under the direction of Winn Funeral Home, Horse Cave.
There will be no visitation.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to the following:
