Dixie McDonald Handy, age 94, of Glasgow, formerly of Defries, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at NHC in Glasgow. She was a native of Hart County and a member of Monroe Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was a seamstress and worked at the Horse Cave Sewing Factory.
She was preceded in death by her husband, P. L. Handy in 1994; her parents, Torrence and Bertie McDonald; two sisters, Bertha May Sturgeon and Louise Brownfield; two brothers, Henry & Louie McDonald.
She is survived by three daughters, Linda Kinslow of Hardyville, Judy Nall of Glasgow, and Donna Smith (Billy) of Horse Cave; six grandchildren, Barry Locke (Shirley), Tammi Essler (Scott), Cindy Rutledge (John), Mark Locke, Allison Dickinson, Ryan Hogue (Tara); great-grandchildren, Daniel Locke (Taylor), Stephen Locke (Kristina Wu), Brandi Lynch, Marcy Michael (Ryan), Annie Clark (Michael), Abby Rutledge, Ella Dickinson, Webb Dickinson & Wyatt Hogue; four great-great grandchildren, Kenneth Ray, Bradley Mattice, Sophia Michael, Phillip Michael; one sister, Alberta Gardner; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 8, 2018, at Winn Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery. Visitation at Winn Funeral Home from 2-7 p.m. on Sunday, the 7th, and after 9 a.m. until time of service on Monday.
