Christopher E. Houk

Christopher E. Houk, age 94, of Horse Cave, passed away Sunday, February 20, 2022 at Signature Health Care of Horse Cave. He was a native of Hart County and a member of Horse Cave Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for many years and currently served as a Deacon Emeritus. He was a sergeant in the United States Military in WWII. Chris served on the board of directors of the Horse Cave Water Company for 63 years, he was a member of the Horse Cave Lions Club, in 1978 he received the Hart County Chamber of Commerce Citizen of The Year Award, in 2021 he received the Hart County Chamber of Commerce Life-Time Achievement Award. Chris founded Houk Insurance Agency in 1966 where he continued to work until the Lord called him home. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Mildrene Houk; his parents, Poter and Effie Houk.

He is survived by one son, David Houk (Melinda); three daughters, Christy Ramey (Larry), Betsy Manship, and Ashlie Kirby (Robert); special friend, Linda Cooper; 12 grandchildren, Emily Maxwell (Bobby), Justin Manship (Amanda), Alan Ramey (Lindsay), Jaime Dennison (Greg), Andrew Houk (Lauren), Lauren Huffman (Jeremy), Katie White (Sam), Austin Ramey, John Patrick Kirby, Erin Powell (Noah), Sloan Bull, and Cara Kirby; 23 great-grandchildren

Funeral Servivces will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at Horse Cave Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until time of service Wednesday.
