Chester D. Mires

May 5, 1947 — March 13, 2014

Chester D. Mires, 66, of Smiths Grove passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green.

 A Hart County native, he served as an  United States Air Force loadmaster on  C-141 Starlifters, he retired from R.R. Donnelly and in later years was an over the road truck driver.

He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Mires, Sr.

Survivors inlude his daughter, Sheila Mires Whitlock and husband, E.J., of Junction, TX; two sons, James Mires and wife, Beth, of Jacksonville, FL and Mike Mires and Tiffany, of Hillsboro, OR; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his mother, Ruby Bunnell Mires, of Hardyville; his sister, Lurline Mires, of Hardyville; four brothers, Larry Mires and wife, Pat, Herbert Mires, Jr. and wife, Carolyn, J.C. Mires and Ed Mires and wife, Momoyo and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted in the chapel of Winn Funeral Home Monday, March 17, 2014 at 2 PM with burial to follow in Pearl Webb Cemetery, Canmer with full military honors by the DAV Chapter #20 of Glasgow.

Visitation at the funeral home will be Sunday, 5-8 PM and after 10 AM Monday until service time
