Mrs. Betty Lou Waters Gumm, age 84, of Horse Cave, Kentucky passed away peacefully Sunday, October 2, 2022.
Betty was born on October 4, 1937 in Horse Cave, Kentucky.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Freda M. Jewell Waters and Butler F. Waters; and one son, Kevin Michael Mahler.
After graduating from high school Mrs. Gumm married and had a son, Kevin Michael Mahler. She was remarried to Don W. Gumm in 1965 and had a second son Stephen Wayne Gumm. Since Don was serving in the United States Navy, Betty moved to Boston and Memphis with him before returning to Kentucky where she became a ceramic teacher. She was a member of Cave Spring Baptist Church. She also served as Queen Mother of the Caveland Jazy Girls Red Hat Society group for numerous years. Betty enjoyed sewing and was an avid scrapbooker.
Betty is survived by her husband, Don, of Horse Cave, KY; her son, Steve Gumm (Ruth Ann), of Glasgow, KY; three grandchildren, Chris L. Mahler of Auburn, KY, Kaitlyn R. Gumm and Kaleigh N. Gumm of Glasgow, KY.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at Winn Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Winn Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 from 3-7 PM and on Thursday from 9 AM until time of service at 11 AM.
